What Is Web Conferencing
Web conferencing is commonly defined as a conference conducted through the internet between two or more participants in different locations. As a way to have meetings over the internet from anywhere and anytime, the participants in a web conferencing may use only a web browser and a plug in. However, text and video may also be applied to communicate in real time or in asynchronous environment. And, for groups of three or more locations, voice conferencing can be used with web conferencing.
In the first place, the definition of web conferencing with the continuous developments and changes done on the field of communications and technology is constantly changing as people see and experience the possibilities that web conferencing has to offer. In fact, today’s web conferencing solutions greatly offer far greater ease of use as well as of features then just a couple of years ago. The use of web conferencing and other collaboration tools are definitely evolving for almost 60%-70% every year. And, this growth, according to some experts, is even fuelling the demand of some new features on web conferencing.
The traditional practice of just connecting a web camera and a head set with the personal computer is now even transformed with the growing number of people who want to be able to not only present a presentation over the web but also share and exchange applications, remote control, perform dynamic file transfers, voice and keyboard chat, video conference with web conferencing, conduct user polls as well as quizzes, and much more. Aside from this, the idea of a multi experience meeting anywhere with web conferencing is now becoming more of a reality as the evolution of cordless and high speed Internet connections continue to persist and as a great number of businesses all over the world realized the availability of such web conferencing solutions.
Web conferencing and other modes of collaboration is now rapidly becoming a core business application with the dynamic evolution of collaboration as an e-Sales, e-Support tool, and e-training. This is highly evident with some of the businesses demands for greater integration of synchronous capabilities specifically in their CRM, LMS, as well as in the other core business applications. Perhaps due to this growth in web conferencing, two to three years from now, most of the businesses will view their web conferencing and collaboration solutions in a similar critical view as their phone system or website. Web conferencing in the end, as it allows the people to share and exchange thoughts and information, is merely just an extension of the internet’s capability. It gives a great impact to the corporate sectors, education, and businesses as web conferencing is employed to enhance efficacy of employees while lessening the expenses at the same time.
